Catherine Welsh is a 1998 graduate of the University of Texas College of Law. She is a licensed attorney in Texas and then moved to Oklahoma in 2003, where she took a second bar exam and was licensed. She formerly served as a prosecutor in Dallas County, Texas. She then transitioned to plaintiffs’ asbestos litigation. In Oklahoma, she began her career doing Social Security appeals and insurance defense work with a firm. She was then hired by the University of Tulsa Law School to run their elder law clinic, which she did for 3 years and enjoyed every minute.
She later hung her own shingle as a solo attorney, but then joined up with Jim McGough to form Welsh & McGough, PLLC (McGough is pronounced Mc Gu with a long U). The firm now has 10 attorneys and about the same number of staff personnel, and they handle most every area of practice.
Ms. Welsh has been named a super lawyer in elder law for several years.
Ms. Welsh has a passion for guardianship law and had presented several continuing legal education series for the Tulsa County and Oklahoma Bar Associations.
In her personal time, she has a son at Bishop Kelley High School who is 17 and a daughter who is 13 at the School of Saint Mary. Both are adopted, which makes her very passionate about guardianship and adoption law as well. The kids, along with her pets, are the second shift and she stays busy with their activities.
